Clarification about visitation to Mount Hotham | 6 April 2020 Clarification about visitation to Mt Hotham- 6 April 2020Good morning everyone, Stay at home restrictions are now in place across Victoria that prohibit all non-essential travel. Victorian Government guidelines state there are only four reasons to be out of your home:
Mount Hotham Alpine Resort Management Board (MHARMB) has received a number of enquiries from property owners wanting to come to the resort for maintenance tasks in preparation for the winter. Travel for this purpose does not meet these criteria, so we request that you abide by these government directives and remain at your permanent place of residency. We also request that you assist the general public in meeting these directives through discouraging any general resort visitation for leisure, recreation or tourism purposes. For those with online bookings (offered directly or via other suppliers) please consider blocking out availability for accommodation and other tourism experiences until 13 April 2020, the period that the current directives apply to. We understand that this is usually a high visitation time, but the current situation requires cooperation from everyone to help protect our community, particularly our permanent residents. Please note: Victoria Police is now conducting spot checks across the alpine resorts to ensure compliance with Government directives. Those found in breach of any of the current restrictions face an on-the-spot fine of $1,652 per individual or $9,913 for businesses. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. We look forward to welcoming you and your guests back to Mt Hotham as soon as it is safe to do so. Amber Gardner, CEO |
