Throwback ThursdayAlexander Windeyer RalstonAfter the declaration of war in 1914, Strathfield barrister, Alexander Windeyer Ralston served in the Pacific before re-enlisting with the AIF in 1915. As a major with the 19th Battalion he served at Gallipoli. In June 1916 he was appointed lieutenant colonel, becoming one of the youngest colonels of the Allied forces. Ralston earned the Distinguished Service Order for his actions on the Western Front during August 1916 and the following year received the Companion of St Michael and St George for his ‘most excellent work’ at Lagnicourt.
