NOTICES:
*Safety of our Students: It is important for the safety of our students and local residents that all parents who drive to school in the mornings and afternoons are adhering to the road rules. We ask you all to consider the following: - Do not speed on our surrounding roads as many families walk to and from school and this compromises their
safety.
- Do not park on the zig zag lines at the front of the school as this impacts on our students safely crossing the road.
- Do not park across the driveways of our neighbours, as this will disrupt access to their private property. As a school we suggest walking or catching public transport to school to where possible. If you have to drive, there is often ample parking spaces a little further away from the school, which may also alleviate the congestion and stress of the morning. We thank you for your cooperation on this matter and your consideration of our local community. **The 2018/2019 Academic Year begins on Monday 10th September 2018.***Shoes and clothing donations please! If you have any shoes/plimsolls/wellies or tights and socks that your child has grown out of, please can you bring them along to the Reception classrooms. Thank you!
****Equipment - Parents please ensure your child comes into school with all the equipment and food they will need for the day. The front office will not be responsible for taking things to classroom as this is disruptive to children's learning.Reminder to Parents - No bicycles or scooters are to be ridden in the school gates, this includes when coming to collect from after school clubs - No climbing is permitted on the bicycle racks
Staff leaving School 21 We have two members of staff leaving School 21 this year to go on to new adventures.
Mr HealeMr Heale has worked at School 21 for 2 years and in that time has been an integral member of our teaching and leadership team. Mr Heale is going to a Deputy Head position at a school in south west London, which is closer to home for him. We wish him the best of
luck in his new position and thank him for his hard work and dedication.
Ms Fahie Ms Fahie has worked at School 21 for 5 years, seeing the school grow and develop, and playing a large part in this development. Ms Fahie is going travelling, and will be starting her adventure in Canada. We wish her the best of luck with her travels and thank her for
her enthusiasm, dedication and efforts throughout her time with us!
Reception go bouncing! This week was very exciting for Reception as we celebrated the end of a successful first year with class trips to ZAPSpace in Stratford. We loved jumping, climbing and leaping as we pushed ourselves to take risks and have lots of fun. We had a great time and
it was a lovely way to end our year together.
Questions about LifeThis week in Year 1 we had some of the Year 2 children come into our class and answer some questions about life in Year 2. They were amazing at answering our questions and told us all the fun things they get to do. Some of us can't wait to get
started!
Stuffed ToysThis week Year 2 put the finishing touches on their stuffed toys, making sure that they were finished off neatly. They also wrote about their animals and their adaptations and explained why they had chosen these
adaptations to help hem survive.
Showing Spark with ElectricityThis week Year 3 have been investigating electricity. Not only can they explain how current travels around a closed circuit, they have also been designing circuits to solve real life problems. The attributes of spark and grit have been necessary so
far. Pupils have asked interesting questions and have shown curiosity about how electricity works, and have persevered when their light bulbs have not lit up, searching for ways to solve the problems. Next week the children will be putting their knowledge to further use by designing and building torches!
Time to GraduateThe time has come for our Year 4's to graduate. After working incredibly hard this year to earn their patches, the Year 4 children will be graduating at their dinner and ceremony on Tuesday night. This is a chance for the children to celebrate their hard work with a three course meal served by the Year
4 team before taking the stage to receive a sash that shows off all their achieved patches. We invite children to arrive at 5:45pm dressed in smart party wear ready for dinner and parents/carers to arrive at 6:45pm ready for the ceremony. We look forward to celebrating with you.

Newham Carnival
On the scorching heat last Saturday 7th July, members of the School 21 community met to represent at the Mayor's Newham Carnival! Our theme this year was the circus and specifically 'Wild Rumpus' where we imagined fantastical creatures that could perform in a make-believe circus. Our creature was a pegasus, so we all dressed in our horse-head hats, wings and tails which we built in the artist workshops over the term and with Mr Santhanam. Thank you to all the parents and children who braved the heat (and missed the football!) to come and support School 21. See you all again next year!
Overdue Libary Books
It's been great to see lots of overdue books being returned to the library. Thank you to those that have hunted for missing books. Unfortunately there are still lots more to be returned. Letters will be sent home this week about overdue books and if they have been lost, these can now be paid for via ParentPay.Mrs Fisher

ZU-UK ProjectTwo of our Year 4 parents run arts company ZU-UK and they are doing an incredible project called Pick Me Up (& hold me tight). The project takes place in all of the UK's pay phones (all 34,000) ringing at the same time in memory of those that have taken
their own lives. This will happen at 11am on the 1st January when there is a significant yearly spike. The subject is personal to them and a sensitive and ethically challenging one so they are raising money for a pilot in order for it to be as well thought out as possible. Out of £15,000 needed 58% has been raised already but there are only a few days remaining to raise the rest or the project won't happen. See more here:
