Hi there,

Like many of you, this time of uncertainty and crisis has left me with a sense of worry and concern. It has also filled me with an immense amount of gratitude. The resilience and compassion I have seen has been inspiring.

To the housing agencies and Resident Services Coordinators that go above and beyond to ensure your most vulnerable residents have access to food…

To the volunteers who offer to help in any way (and specifically to those who show up in less than an hour’s notice)…

To the mystery donor who sends us donations through our Amazon Wishlist…

To the donors who send in contributions or increase your monthly donations…

To the restaurants that donate perishables as you shut your doors or distribute food to your employees who are now out of work…

To the volunteers who stay home to protect yourselves and families…

To the teachers who share resources through social media…

To all those working in social services who are making critical and challenging decisions on an hourly basis…

I see you. I appreciate you. Thank you.

At Lift UP, we are committed to distributing food to the community until we are mandated to shut down. Our community needs us now more than ever.

There are several ways to support our community during this challenging time:

  • Volunteer for a one time shift. Email Abby, our Volunteer Manager.
  • Donate. Your monetary donations allow us to purchase food at wholesale costs and continue our services.
  • Follow Governor Brown and OHA recommendations.
  • Reach out to those who might be struggling- a phone call or thoughtful email can make a huge difference!

The most important thing you can do, of course, is to take care of yourself, and each other.

Together, we will get through this.

Thank you for your dedication to Lift UP and stay healthy!

With gratitude,

Erin Goldwater
Executive Director

COVID-19 Response

As we move deeper into social distancing to help diminish the spread of COVID-19 and flatten the curve, we are adjusting (and will continue to adjust) our services to be able to continue to provide food and nutrition critical to our community.

The health and well-being of our of staff, volunteers, and clients remains our top priority. Because our many of clients are the most vulnerable to this pandemic, we have made the following operational modifications:

Preston’s Pantry – We are still open Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 3-6 for food pick up only. We have successfully piloted an order system and have pre-packed items ready for grab and go.

Delivered Food Boxes – We are no longer sending staff or volunteers into apartment buildings. We are working with Resident Services Coordinators to deliver the food directly to the residents. Starting Monday March 23, we will have a two-week break from deliveries.

Supper Club – It is postponed, until further notice.

Office Operations – We are staggering shifts and preparing to work remotely.

Recommendations from the CDC and Governor Brown are changing rapidly. For the most up to date information, please check the Lift UP website.
