Parking is limited to 3 hours per day and is only available during the opening hours Monday through Friday, 9:30am – 4:30pm. Throwback ThursdaysHerr Hugo Alpen (1842-1917)Musician, composer and conductor Herr Hugo Alpen spent his retirement years living at the delightfully named Mozart House on The Avenue (now 57 Churchill Avenue) Strathfield. After emigrating from Germany during the 1850s he worked as a singing master in Tumut and Albury, eventually becoming the Superintendent of Music in the NSW Department of Public Instruction. He composed many works during his long career. In Centennial Park on 1 January 1901 he had the honour of conducting 10,000 public school children singing his own composition Federated Australia during the inauguration of the new Commonwealth of Australia.
