No Images? Click here Dear Families, I’m very excited to announce our new Blonder Cares initiative, made possible by a grant from the Greater Atlanta Jewish Abilities Alliance. Once a month, participants ages 18+ are invited to the MJCCA for lunch, exercise, and a volunteer project that supports our local and Jewish communities. For our September project, we’ll help prepare for the Down Syndrome Association of Atlanta Buddy Walk and in October, we’ll help prepare for the Book Festival of the MJCCA. Finally, with the holidays coming up, be sure to check our program listings to confirm class schedules and the MJCCA Holiday Schedule for our holiday hours. All programs listed below are for ages 16+, unless otherwise noted. Hope to see you soon! Sincerely, Social Activities & OutingsAtlanta Braves Game Sun, Sept 22, 11:00 am-6:00 pm Come cheer on the Atlanta Braves at SunTrust Park when they take on the San Francisco Giants! We’ll leave from the MJCCA’s Kuniansky Family Center at 11:00 am, stop along the way for an early lunch, and then enjoy the game. Fee includes lunch, game ticket with snack voucher, and transportation. Limited to 10 participants, registration closes September 15. VSP Café & Thurs, Sept 26, 6:30-8:00 pm Once a month, we meet at different restaurants around Dunwoody and Sandy Springs to socialize and enjoy dinner together. We will not meet on Jewish and national holidays. Open to the community! SOAR Basketball Practices: Tuesdays, Oct 29-Jan 21, 5:30-6:30 pm, Games: Sundays, Dec 8-Jan 26, Time TBD This league provides an opportunity to stay active while enjoying the fun and camaraderie of an exciting team sport. Practices are on Tuesdays and Games are on Sundays. SOAR Yoga Tuesdays, Oct 29-Dec 17, 7:00-8:15 pm Participants will immerse themselves in this therapeutic program designed to increase body awareness, strength, and flexibility. We will teach calming techniques for the overburdened sensory system and how to quiet a busy head and soothe the nervous system. Arts + Culture ClassesGlee Club Wednesdays, Through Oct 23, 5:45-6:45 pm Be part of this fun and energetic singing group! We meet weekly to share a love of music and performance. Participants will learn and practice different musical numbers and mashups. Theater: Onstage and Off Wednesdays, Through Oct 23, 7:00-8:00 pm Back by popular demand, this class will be a fun, no-pressure introduction to the stage and all that goes into creating a theatrical performance. Participants will rehearse and act out scenes from popular plays and musicals and enjoy the camaraderie of working together. Art Classes Wednesdays, Oct 30-Dec 18, 5:45-6:45 pm Have fun exploring different mediums and techniques while creating great art with your friends in our art studios. Cooking Classes Wednesdays, Oct 30-Dec 18, 7:00-8:00 pm Come and learn the secrets and skills of the kitchen with Chef Howard! We will practice making several delicious recipes that can be followed at home. We will get to cook and eat together! Community Programs ADMH Run for Health Sun, Sept 15, 9:00 am The ADMH Run for Health is a 5K/1K Run/Walk supporting all-encompassing healthcare and social service needs for teens and adults with developmental disabilities.
