Addiction Medicine Board Exam The application period is open to sit for the addiction medicine board exam through the American Board of Preventive Medicine via the practice pathway without completing a formal fellowship. Many medical toxicologists have successfully obtained certification through this pathway and it is open through 2021. Member News: ACMT Members Present at the 2019 American Society of Addiction Medicine Annual Conference ACMT members participated in 5 workshops at ASAM including: “The World of Weird Withdrawal" a session headed by Alaina Steck, JoAn Laes, Lewis Nelson and Tim Wiegand, presented four cases of patients using substances purchased online to “self-detox” or to mitigate their withdrawal symptoms. "Examining the Link Between Social Media, Novel Synthetic Substances" highlighted research involving social media and NPS ID.
