Mr Henry Wong, General Manager for Strathfield Council accepted this award on behalf of Council. The Strattie Strikers are a local soccer club made up of adults with a disability. The program was developed to assist young adults with an intellectual disability who have left the education system and where work is not available to them. Council developed a program, with the assistance of 'Sports for All' and initial seed fund from Dooleys’ Lidcombe Catholic Club. It brings together young people on a weekly basis to kick a soccer ball, enjoy a meal together and connect with others. The program is now self-sustaining and has been running for three years.
