JFC Construction Update - Construction Progress - Issue 26 - 28 January 2020

 

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

Read our construction update to see what has been achieved and what is coming up on the Karangahape Road Enhancements project.

 

Upper Queen Street to Mercury Lane 

Construction progressed well last week with all ducting installation completed and the blockwork walls finished on all the raingardens.

Upcoming works - what to expect:

  • Filling the final two raingardens with landscaping fill
  • Paving the tie-in sections from the existing footpath to the new kerbline
  • Installing the kerbline of the traffic island that separates the cycleway from vehicles from Upper Queen Street to Mercury Lane
  • Preparing the cycleway for asphalt

Upcoming night works:

  • From 6pm on Tuesday 28 January 2020 works to remove the existing paving at the mid-block pedestrian crossing and preparing the area for concrete will be undertaken. Works are expected to take up to 5 nights to complete.
    • These works are being undertaken at night to minimise the impact on access at the pedestrian crossing and neighbouring businesses in this area.
    • Access to businesses will be maintained during the works, and available as usual during the day.
 

Ponsonby Road to Hereford Street

Last week the stormwater and sewer upgrade works, electrical ducting, raingarden and the installation of the radius kerblines was completed. 

Upcoming works - what to expect:

  • Pouring the concrete footpath around the corner of Hereford Street in front of Tesla 
  • Speed table construction at the intersection of Hereford Street and Karangahape Road
 

Hereford Street to Howe Street

Works in this section are progressing well with the paving of the traffic islands and the cycleway asphalt completed.

Upcoming works - what to expect:

  • Pouring the final strip of concrete in the traffic island that separates the cycleway and the road.

Howe Street to Overbridge 

Works in this section are progressing very well with the first section of footpath poured this morning. 

Upcoming works - what to expect:

  • Continuing to install kerbline
  • Final manhole connection
  • Pouring further sections of the new footpath
  • Preparing the cycleway for asphalt

Overbridge

Upcoming works - what to expect:

  • New bus stop shelters will start being installed this week

Access

  • Temporary Bus Service Relocation
  • The bus stops in this location have been relocated further along Karangahape Road, outside Blackboard Café.
 

STAGING & LOADING ZONES

Below is a map of the Karangahape Road precinct showing the construction stages, temporary bus stop relocations and loading zones.

The Auckland Transport project team are working closely with their parking enforcement team to monitor locations to ensure they're being correctly used. If you have a request for parking enforcement, please call Auckland Council on 09 301 0101.
