NOTICES:
Important notice: From Monday 12th November, the Primary gates will not be opened until 2:55pm ready for a 3:00pm collection. This is due to the fact that many lessons are still taking place at this time and children may be working in the playground. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. Safety of our Students: It is important for the safety of our students and local residents that all parents who drive to school in the mornings and afternoons are adhering to the road rules. We ask you all to consider the following: Do not speed on our
surrounding roads as many families walk to and from school and this compromises their safety.
Do not park on the zig zag lines at the front of the school as this impacts on our students safely crossing the road.
Do not park across the driveways of our neighbours, as this will disrupt access to their private property. As a school we suggest walking or catching public transport to school to where possible. If you have to drive, there is often ample parking spaces a little further away from the school, which may also alleviate the congestion and stress of the morning. We thank you for your cooperation on this matter and your consideration of our local community.
Equipment - Parents please ensure your child comes into school with all the equipment and food they will need for the day. The front office will not be responsible for taking things to classroom as this is disruptive to children's learning. Reminder to Parents No bicycles or scooters are to be ridden in the school gates, this includes when coming to collect from after school clubs. No climbing is permitted on the bicycle racks. Lunch boxes! Please remember that our school is nut free, therefore any products containing nuts (peanut butter, breakfast bars etc) cannot be sent in to school for packed lunch or to the breakfast club. It is important that we are vigilant around this issue as we have staff and students with allergies to nuts. Uniform From time to time a piece of uniform (jumper, cardigan, tie) might be misplaced or left in the lunch hall. It is important that you clearly label all items of uniform so that when they are found we can return them to you promptly. Any pieces without names go directly to lost property.
Donations We would love any uniform donations for sizes for our Year 3 and Year 4 children, particularly trousers and dresses.

Diwali Drama!In Reception this week we have been learning the story of the Ramayana. We have been mapping, stepping and speaking the story and particularly enjoyed acting it out in the role play corner and in our garden! We have started learning about the festival of Diwali and had a lot of fun making firework pictures using different media and
materials.
Where the Wild Things AreThis week for Literacy Year 1 have been deepening their understanding for the story, 'Where the Wild Things Are'. On Thursday, we went into the forest school to retell the story and search for Wild Things. We thought about what we could hear, see, touch and smell which stimulated some great ideas for writing sentences
using adjectives.
Brilliant Bar ModelsThis week Year 2 have been looking at different ways to represent information in a word problem. We have created bar models with cubes, with sketches and with rulers! We have thought carefully about whether we need to add or subtract and whether we know the parts of the whole. The children have worked particularly hard on
using key mathematical vocabulary to deepen their understanding.
Science InvestigationThis week in Year 3 we have been investigating and observing different types of rock in our Science lessons. We have learned about sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic rocks. We used magnifying glasses to look at what makes them different and learn about how they are all formed.
World War 2This week in Year 4 the students have started to consider more deeply how World War Two affected the people of London, and more specifically Stratford. They have used multiple sources to infer what life was like during the war and to empathise with some of the challenging decisions Newham residents had to make. As we delve deeper into
our grounding text, Goodnight Mr Tom, we have begun to consider the idea of 'what is the same/different' to today - a key skill in studying history higher up the school. We have been using ambitious vocabulary to describe settings and write a diary entry for the characters at the start of the book.In Maths we have started our new topic of multiplication and division, which will continue for the next several weeks. We have also started to use 'Times Table Rockstars' to practice our times tables up to 12 x 12 with noticeable improvement happening already this week, which is
fantastic!
Odd Socks Day! To kick off our Anti Bullying Week on Monday 12th November we are asking all students to come dressed in odd socks. It’s an opportunity for children to express themselves and celebrate their individuality and what makes us all unique!This Friday all children will be bringing home a sock image that they can colour and design in their favourite colours and styles so it represents them. These will be used to make our odd sock design.
