2018..... Full of things that have never been!Hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New year. Welcome back to normality, I hope you and your children are enjoying our Spring term 2018 so far! Last term was a super busy one with the club competition (including snow just to add a sprinkle of magic or stress however you wish to see it). This term will be all about upgrades. Learning new skills and elements ready for the next season of competition. We all know how quickly terms pass so the gymnasts will be working hard ready for our parents watching week. Parents will be invited in to watch on the last day of term, details will be issued nearer the time. This term we welcome our very own Virtue Award (badge) system. The team have worked tirelessly for months to find the best possible system to suit all. We have restructured the whole program and the outcome is amazing, not only being more gymnastics specific and progressive but also enabling smooth transitions from one badge to the next. We hope you are looking forward to a fun filled Spring term! VIRTUE AWARD SCHEMEAs you are aware this term we have decided to replace the British Gymnastics Badge scheme with our Virtue Award Scheme. Our own Virtue award scheme are similar to the British Gymnastics criteria, however we have made amendments where we feel is necessary. The Virtue badge scheme is very gymnastics specific and is extremely progressive. We feel our badge system is easier for both parents and gymnasts to understand and it will help the gymnasts reach their individual full potential. All gymnasts will be awarded either a pass certificate or a participation certificate free of charge towards the end of every term. Every pre school child has their own reward card, and will work progressively through their requirements collecting stickers until they complete their award. Each term they will move up a level in the pre school award scheme. Pre School badges run from 1 - 12. Recreational and school children will be placed onto the Virtue recreational award scheme. This programme runs from level 8 to level 1. Every term for a two week period we will test both school and recreational children on their current award level. They will have to achieve 75% to obtain a pass. Pass certificates will have requirements written on them to enable parents to see exactly what each child has accomplished. Our advanced award scheme is for those gymnasts who have completed the recreational awards. Children on these levels will be tested alongside the recreational gymnasts during 'badge week'. To pass 5/6 is required. Pass certificates will have requirements written on them to enable parents to see exactly what each child has accomplished to receive this award. Children naturally progress at their own rate and therefore we aim to support them though this process. Please be aware that children do not necessarily pass their award every term. This is especially important to understand if your child is stuck on one or two things. This could be rather repetitive and de-motivating for them if they were only doing these things week after week. Rather, we aim to teach the children through broken down skills and progressions, and then after a few weeks or months we often find a child will naturally achieve the element as they have built up the skills in the previous weeks to allow them to do that requirement more easily. If your child does not pass their badge we will still provide them with a certificate free of charge towards the end of term along with every one else. The Virtue participation certificate will praise your child for working towards their current level as well as state what your child needs to improve on. This helps communication in a positive environment without making the gymnast feel deflated in any way. Children will continue to work on the same level the following term, once a pass is achieved they will then move up to the next level. To view our award scheme please click the button below. Please note squads and freestyle do not participate in Virtue awards. This term we welcome Coach Tilly to the team! You can find out more about her and all our other coaches by viewing our coach page on our website.General communications Our coaches wish to maximise coaching time within the gym, therefore if you wish to speak to us or inform us about anything please do so only at the end of your child's class. WHAT A SUCCESS!!!Our annual club competition in December was a HUGE success! The feedback we received from parents, gymnasts, judges and even other clubs was just overwhelming. So much hard work and months of planning goes into this event and I would like to thank all our volunteers and sponsors for all your help! Without you this event would not be possible. It was so amazing to see the gymnasts all having fun with their friends, and showing their families what they are capable off. Their confidence has grown so much and their improvement is awesome! To watch them reaping the rewards of all their hard work over the previous term was just amazing. We were so proud of each and every competitor and looking forward to doing it all again at the end of this year! Who run the world... Massive well done to coach Lucie for not only bringing home the bronze at The World Champs in the senior category but for also placing 2nd with her team too!
