Dear Friend of PLC

The PLC Lighthouse Grand Opening

One month ago, we opened the PLC Lighthouse doors with our Grand Opening event.

There were amazing performances by roving magicians, bubble walkers and PLC music students. There were face painters, bouncy castles, a petting zoo and so much more. The opening could not have been better.

Parents, students and guests explored the three levels of the Lighthouse and learnt about the science behind each of the rooms and how they aim to support learning, prevent mental illness and promote mental health.

We hope you love the Lighthouse as much as we do!

Watch the video to view the events of the day.

If you would like to explore our wonderful Lighthouse, our next tour is Tuesday 5 June at 9.00 am. Click here to book a tour.

Bibliotherapy Workshop Series

Join biblio-enthusiast Alana Marshall over a series of three workshops.

Initial Workshop: A bibliotherapeutic exploration of wellbeing dimensions and how reading can fuel our personal development. We will take a wander through the ways in which we can foster a love of reading within ourselves, our children and other loved ones.

Series Workshop 1: From the first libraries in ancient Egypt and Greece, described as “temples to heal the soul”, it was understood that literature has a profound effect upon the heart and intellect of the reader, allowing a deeper understanding of human nature and its conditions. In this workshop, explore the history of bibliotherapy, its applications and benefits.

Series Workshop 2: In this workshop, we will open our personal reading histories and share the books that have most impacted and influenced our lives. We will explore how books can be used to know and understand yourself better, as well as strategies for putting your reading time to best use, and some literary recommendations for guiding your personal development journey.

Series Workshop 3: The final workshop in this series will tap into techniques including mindful reading and connecting with your inner storyteller, as well as considering strategies for building reading into your life as a productive and powerful habit.

Tips to Survive School Exams

1. Take Care of Yourself

  • Self care is especially important when you have a big demand in your life - that way you have the energy to commit to what you need to accomplish.
  • Build activities you enjoy and that bring your stress levels down into your study plan, such as sport, spending time with friends, internet, etc.
  • Don't get hungry before or while studying. Grab nutritional snacks that keep you going, such as fruit/nuts/dairy, etc.
  • Remember to get some exercise every day as this helps you to keep focused and energetic.
