Saxon 8" Dobsonian Telescope in stock - $699 treat for visual observersThere's nothing like seeing the night sky with your own eyes! The Saxon 8" Dobsonian (or "Dob" to its friends) for just $699. For visual observing, it's hard to beat a Dobsonian telescope. "Classic" Dobs are Newtonian style reflecting telescopes on a stable, but easy to use base. Their simplicity makes them ideal for those serious beginners wanting to learn about the night sky with a telescope that's large enough to give them years of astro viewing. The 8" (or 200mm) size refers to the diameter of the main mirror. This is large enough to see details in nebula, galaxies, planets and star clusters, but not so bulky that the telescope and base can't be easily moved. 8" Dobs have been one of the most popular telescopes at BINTEL for decades and we simply can't recommend them too highly! More DWARF II Smart Telescopes arrive - drop by to grab one!A large shipment of DWARF II Smart Telescopes has just landed at BINTEL. RIP Lunar Astronaut Frank Borman - one of the first humans to travel to another world.Following on from the news of the death of Apollo astronaut Ken Mattingly we reported last week, Apollo 8 and Gemini 7 Astronaut Frank Borman has also passed away this week. Commander Frank Borman leads out the Apollo 8 crew in December 1968 as they prepare to be the first humans to leave Earth's orbit. More sad news for the space community. Apollo 8 and Gemini 7 Astronaut, Frank Borman, passed away this week at the age of ninety-five. The Apollo 8 mission in December 1968 is remembered as being especially important as it was the first time that astronauts had ridden the Saturn V rocket. It was also the first mission to fly humans beyond Earth orbit and on to the Moon. Apollo 8 was a major step in overcoming the problems the Apollo program had been faced with and paved the way for a successful landing on the Moon's surface by the Apollo 11 mission a few months later in July 1969. Apollo 8 also produced the memorable "Earthrise" image. This week in Space News - new colour images from the Euclid space telescope hint at the unseen. Some of the best, widefield colour images taken from space have been released this week. Euclid shows us a spectacularly panoramic and detailed view of the Horsehead Nebula, also known as Barnard 33 and part of the constellation Orion. ESA (European Space Agency) released a series this week of images from its Euclid space telescope. Many of us are used to seeing detailed images from space by instruments like the Hubble Space Telescope, and more recently, from the James Webb Space Telescope. Both of these telescopes have thrilled the world with their photos of Solar System and deep-sky objects in our Milky Way galaxy and far beyond. However, the size of the "patch" of sky they can observe is small. Euclid's images are much larger in size. The objects released in its first samples take up a much larger part of the night sky compared to other space telescopes. By producing such large, colour images Euclid will help us compile an entire sky atlas and study its evolution over time, and how Dark Matter and Dark Energy have made the Universe the way it is.
