Click here News in a TICNovember 2018 Dear ,I’ve just returned from a student recruitment tour of Canada and once again, I find myself feeling very proud of the reputation that the NZCC is gaining overseas. This is a direct result of the quality of our graduates who are practicing overseas and are impacting the communities and the profession in a very positive sense. As we approach graduation for 2018, I look forward to the latest group of graduates entering the profession and making the same sort of impact. Please join us in celebrating with them on the 12th December at the Auckland Town Hall. I'm also always heartened by the generosity of our chiropractic community in supporting the teaching and learning at the College and would like to thank all of our supporters from the Tua Iwi Foundation, Friends of NZCC, donors to the Centre for Chiropractic Research, donors of equipment, time and money, you are all very much appreciated. A couple of reminders; Matt Sherson and I will be coming to the regions over the next two weeks for our annual Alumni Roadshow. We'll be covering a short mix of philosophy and technique with Matt giving an update of the NZCC analysis package and I will cover an update of College business and explain our position statement on vertebral subluxation. This event is free for Alumni with a small charge for non-alumni. Come and join us for a bit of education and some food and drinks. Also, the Academy of Chiropractic Philosophers programme will be presented in Australia again next year. Please encourage any of your friends and colleagues in Australia to consider registering. Everybody who completes this program raves about the difference it makes in their everyday practising lives and the camaraderie and support that they enjoy from other candidates is very valuable. Dr Phil McMaster NZCC Alumni Roadshow 2018Join us for an evening of learning, inspiration and connection at the 2018 NZCC Alumni Roadshow. Matt Sherson and Phil McMaster will bring together the best of technique and philosophy in an entertaining and interactive presentation that will increase your certainty in Vertebral Subluxation analysis. The ACP is a one-year course designed to enhance the understanding, depth, and breadth of chiropractic philosophy. The sessions will challenge the thinking process and the application of philosophy in the chiropractic profession. Successful completion of the programme leads to membership of the prestigious Academy of Chiropractic Philosophers. For more information on the programme and to register, visit www.chiropractic.ac.nz/acp An update from the Centre for Chiropractic ResearchThe Centre for Chiropractic Research (CCR) continues to explore neurophysiological mechanisms associated with chiropractic care with several international collaborations underway. As part of this, we have been delighted to host a number of visiting researchers throughout the year and currently are hosting a group of Danish biomedical students (pictured) who are analysing CCR research data for future publications as part of their Masters Degrees. This serves to strengthen our CCR profile as well as providing us the opportunity to do chiro-centric research studies that we could not otherwise afford to do. Dr Imran Khan Niazi (centre) with visiting Danish students. Director of Research, Dr Heidi Haavik, has continued to increase the profile of CCR research through international presentations at conferences and symposia. This included presenting at the Kids Summit in Chicago, the Chiropractic Philosophy Forum in Seattle, speaking for the Chiropractic Society of Wisconsin and at Epic Impact in San Diego. The feedback from these events is that the CCR continues to provide the profession with a credible, biologically plausible, mechanism of chiropractic adjustments that is backed by a growing body of research. This trip in particular was successful in establishing a number of future projects with key scientists internationally for future collaborations. The CCR continues to make big waves in the world arena and 2019 promises to be another great year. Running for ResearchOn Saturday 6 October, students and chiropractors took part in the annual Run for Research event running up to 64km of trails at Waiuku Forest. The event raised $11,588.80 for chiropractic research and a huge thanks to everyone that took part or donated. Graduation - Class of 2018Wednesday 12 December All family and friends, students and staff, and members of the chiropractic profession are invited to celebrate the graduating class of 2018.
