August 1, 2017 The following was also in our 2017-18 informational mailing sent to current families on August 1. Summer: A Time to Reflect & PrepareI love my mom but after twelve years of leading Everest I think she would understand by now that the school leadership team does not get their summers off! Yes, we do get an opportunity to use our vacation time but for the most part this is a perfect time to reflect on where we have been and prepare for where are we going. In my May President’s Update, I announced some of the next steps on our journey of excellence. Below are additional enhancements that will improve the Everest experience. Jim Collins, business leader and author of the book Good to Great, talks about the importance of getting the right people on the bus AND getting the right people in the right seat on the bus. With this in mind, in order to improve our service and be even more effective in our academic operations, we are modifying the roles of some of our academic leaders. Greg Reichert will have full responsibility for the academics and academic operations for the academy (elementary and middle school) and the high school. Greg will continue to carry out his responsibilities as the high school principal. Given Greg’s new responsibility his title will be amended to read headmaster and high school principal. The headmaster designation is the appropriate title in academia for an individual with Greg’s additional responsibilities. Sue Ender’s current role as elementary principal will expand to take on academic responsibility for the middle school, making her the principal of the entire academy reporting to the headmaster. Michael Pruchnicki’s role will also be slightly modified. In addition to his current role as middle school academic coordinator, Mike will be the physical education teacher for the middle school. Additionally, we are bringing on board a part-time physical education teacher for the lower elementary grades. Fr. Daniel Pajerski will now be the chair of the formation department giving him complete responsibility for the quality and consistency of the formation our students receive in the school as well as the International Program. Father Daniel will oversee the religious and lay people in their roles as formation directors, formation instructors, and deans of students. Fr. Daniel will lead us in improving the daily lives of our students, as we accompany and mentor them through our societal and cultural realities. I am extremely pleased to announce the creation of the Everest Men’s Club (EMC). The purpose of the Everest Men’s Club is to support the men of Everest in their Christian vocation as husband, father, EC alumni, and grandfather. In the next few weeks the EMC, under the leadership of Adam Bowden and Jeff Ivory, will be announcing their inaugural event for the new school year. Please look for it! In these remaining weeks of summer break, I hope that you will be able to find some time to reflect on God’s many blessings in your life, especially a mother’s love. Given that reflection, I think I have found a way to get my mom to remember my summer schedule! I will remind her that being a member of the school leadership team is like being a mother…our job is never done! We are looking forward to working together this year to provide our students and your children with the best possible educational experience. May God continue to bless Everest, America, and our moms! |
