Sun Peaks was excited to be the first resort in British Columbia to begin winter operations on Nov. 17, kicking off another wonderful winter season. With that, the team has been hard at work finalizing familiarization tour details and prepping for some great events coming up this winter including: Holiday Kick-Off Weekend (Dec. 13-16), Peak Pride (New – Mar. 1-3) and the Sun Peaks Nordic Festival (Mar. 16-17). While winter is in full swing, we’re always looking ahead and have begun diving into plans for summer marketing co-ops for 2019 and, if you can believe it, 2020. If we haven’t already connected and you’re interested in summer partnerships, please get in touch. NEW REAL ESTATE DEVELOPMENTS Several new real estate developments are currently underway in Sun Peaks, as part of the continued growth of the village in conjunction with the resort’s Master Development Plan. Construction has already started on Peaks West, a two- and three-bedroom condo, townhouse, and commercial development beside the Sun Peaks Fire Hall. The recently announced Elevation development will take advantage of Sun Peaks’ newest chairlift to provide ski-in, ski-out living perched above the soaring views of the 16th fairway on the golf course. NEW WAYS TO GET AROUND Après is about to get a lot easier this winter with the launch of two new evening transportation options! great option for guest staying outside the village core to get home safely after dinner or a night on the town, as well as providing a welcome rest to weary legs after a day on the slopes. Also new to the community this season is Sun Peaks Taxi. Sun Peaks Taxi is an independently owned and operated business, and will be running two vehicles this winter. They are available 24 hours a day to help transport guests throughout Sun Peaks and beyond. NANCY GREENE INDUCTED INTO THE CANADIAN TOURISM HALL OF FAME Sun Peaks Resort's favourite Olympian is no stranger to accolades, Hall of Fames, or 'best ever' lists. Since her famous victory at the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble, France and record success on the World Cup circuit, the name Nancy Greene Raine is familiar to every Canadian winter sports fan. This time, however, it's decades of work outside of her sporting achievements that is earning Nancy her latest honour: an induction into the Canadian Tourism Hall of Fame. MORE FAMILY FUN THIS SUMMER Through the summer months Sun Peaks is offering a New Dedicated Kids Zone where families can enjoy the Tod Mountain Mining Co, Bungee Trampoline and Mini Cart Course all in one location.
