Hello neighbor,

I am Teresa, the manager of Preston’s Pantry. We provide fresh and nutritious food to hundreds of families every week. Last week, about 30% of the clients were new and shocked to find themselves there. One client, a restaurant manager, was asked to lay off his entire team, only to be laid off the next day.

“My employees are young people. Even if they are eligible for unemployment, it’s not nearly enough to survive on and could take four weeks. I told them about Preston’s Pantry.”

It’s tough. Many of our clients are isolated and feel forgotten. Naturally, they are concerned about the virus, but they’re more concerned about being able to feed their families. And the number will continue to grow over the next few weeks and months.

The real heroes are our long-term and new volunteers and donors. They are stepping up and they give me hope.

The best way to ensure that Preston's Pantry is able to continue to provide healthy, fresh, and nutritious food to Portland's most vulnerable is to make a donation.

Preston's Pantry will continue to stay open at First United Methodist Church.
