From the Co-Presidents

2017, the 125th anniversary of the founding of St Michael's Collegiate School, is a year COGA wants to dedicate to re-connecting with old girls.  We want your news to enable us to celebrate your achievements or special milestones; your email addresses to send you Collegiate news and invite you to the celebrations we are planning this year; and your participation in COGA and Tremayne events as guests or hosts.  If you believe a Collegiate Old Girl is not receiving updates from Collegiate because she has moved, or changed her email, let us know.  Email philanthropy@collegiate.tas.edu.au with any suggestions, or telephone Rachael Johnston on 03 6211 4403.

From the Principal

Special anniversaries are always times of reflection. As St Michael's Collegiate School celebrates its 125th anniversary, I look forward to reflecting with many of you throughout the year. It is amazing to think that only 15 short years after the Women’s Prison at the Cascades Female Factory in South Hobart closed its doors, a school was founded just down the road to empower women through education.

Since 1892, Collegiate has remained steadfast in its commitment to providing an outstanding education for girls. The traditions and values established by the Community of the Sisters of the Church remain strong at the School, and have been enhanced by our contemporary curriculum and extensive facilities. I am proud to be Principal of a school with such a remarkable history and I look forward to engaging with you throughout our 125th anniversary year.

125th Anniversary

A touching anniversary message was recently received by the School from Sister Dorothea, Principal of Collegiate from 1953-1955. Take a moment to view her video message here.

You may also like to view the timeline the School has published on its website detailing its history.  Undoubtedly it will bring back memories for many of you.

A number of special events are planned throughout 2017 to mark this special anniversary. We will be sure to keep you informed of the details.

Inspiring Old Girls Gallery

An 'Inspiring Old Girl's' galley has recently been launched on the School website, profiling some of Collegiate's remarkable alumni. The School plans to add to this throughout its 125th year and into the future, and would love to hear your suggestions on who we should include as an ‘inspiring old girl’ - maybe you?
