Vendease, a restaurant supply ordering platform serving Africa, raised $20 million in Series A equity, in addition to $10 million in debt funding. TLcom Capital and Partech co-led the equity round, which included participation from VentureSouq, Hustle Fund, Hack VC, GFR Fund, Kube VC, Magic Fund and Kairos Angels. TLcom’s Andreata Muforo and Partech’s Cyril Collon will join the company’s board.
AmazeVR, a Los Angeles-based virtual-reality concert production startup, has raised $17 million in an ongoing round. New investors CJ ENM and Krafton were joined by previous backers Mirae Asset Capital, Mirae Asset Venture Investment, CJ Investment, Smilegate Investment, GS Futures and LG Technology Ventures in the funding.
Kupando, a Germany-based startup developing drug candidates for use in oncology and infectious diseases, completed a €13 million Series A round. Remiges Ventures and LifeCare Partners co-led the investment, which saw participation from Brandenburg Kapital, High-Tech Gründerfonds, Ventura Biomed Investors and others.
Oplog, an Istanbul-based startup offering fulfillment services to e-commerce brands, landed €11 million in pre-series A funding led by Esas Private Equity.
KODE Labs Inc., a Detroit-based smart building operating system provider, picked up an $8 million investment led by I Squared Capital.
Damona Pharmaceuticals, a Toronto-based startup developing a therapeutic for the treatment of cognitive symptoms associated with depression and diseases of aging, closed a $5.5 million seed investment. Co-led by Angelini Lumira Biosciences Fund and Noetic Fund, the round included participation from Toronto Innovation Acceleration Partners and others.
Checkmate, a San Francisco-based personalized smart shopping tool, was seeded with a $5 million investment. Led by Fuel Capital, the round included contributions from F7 Ventures, Blackbird Ventures, Scribble Ventures, Hyper and Susa Ventures.
Naya Homes, a Mexico City-based startup specializing in vacation and short-term rental management, snagged $5 million in seed funding. Lead investor Flybridge Capital Partners was joined by Primary Venture Partners, Clocktower Technology Ventures, K50 Ventures, Carao Ventures, Trip Ventures, Colibrí Equity Ventures, Derive Ventures and others in the round.
Quilo, a Staten Island, N.Y.-based digital loan origination and real-time loan syndication network startup, fetched $5 million in Series A funding led by investors including FinCapital, Studio VC and The Venture Center.
PredictionStrike, a New York-based marketplace on which users can trade shares of their favorite athletes, collected $3 million in seed funding. MaC Venture Capital led the round, which included contributions from Sixty8 Capital and others.
Employee Cycle, a Philadelphia-based provider of an HR analytics dashboard for small and medium-sized businesses, closed a $2.5 million seed round. Impellent Ventures led the investment, which included additional support from Collab Capital and Converge.
