NOTICES:
Safety of our Students: It is important for the safety of our students and local residents that all parents who drive to school in the mornings and afternoons are adhering to the road rules. We ask you all to consider the following: Do not speed on our surrounding roads as many families walk to and from school and this compromises their safety.
Do not park on the zig zag lines at the front of the school as this impacts on our students safely crossing the road.
Do not park across the driveways of our neighbours, as this will disrupt access to their private property. As a school we suggest walking or catching public transport to school to where possible. If you have to drive, there is often ample parking spaces a little further away from the school, which may also alleviate the congestion and stress of the morning. We thank you for your cooperation on this matter and your consideration of our local community.
Equipment - Parents please ensure your child comes into school with all the equipment and food they will need for the day. The front office will not be responsible for taking things to classroom as this is disruptive to children's learning. Reminder to Parents No bicycles or scooters are to be ridden in the school gates, this includes when coming to collect from after school clubs. No climbing is permitted on the bicycle racks. Lunch boxes! Please remember that our school is nut free, therefore any products containing nuts (peanut butter, breakfast bars etc) cannot be sent in to school for packed lunch or to the breakfast club. It is important that we are vigilant around this issue as we have staff and students with allergies to nuts. Uniform From time to time a piece of uniform (jumper, cardigan, tie) might be misplaced or left in the lunch hall. It is important that you clearly label all items of uniform so that when they are found we can return them to you promptly. Any pieces without names go directly to lost property.
Donations We would love any uniform donations for sizes for our yr 3 and yr 4 children, particularly trousers and dresses.
Super CelebrationsThis week in Reception we have started learning about all the celebrations that are happening in the next few months. We looked at photos of celebrations and talked about what we celebrate. We wanted to draw ourselves celebrating so carefully practised drawing people making sure we included all of the right body parts. After
such a long break it was great to see our friends and teachers again - we missed school!
Wild ThingsThis week Year 1 heard our new story ,'Where the Wild Things Are' by Maurice Sendak. We mapped the story using pictures for the key moments and then used these maps to create actions. We developed our actions in pairs and each one had to represent a part of the story clearly. We then told the story as a class through our
actions.
Help the Refugees UK came to visit us!This week Year 3 have been preparing questions for a speaker from the charity Help Refugees UK. We wanted to know things like…What is it like in a refugee camp? What kind of people are refugees? Why do they have to leave their homes? What does the charity do? What do refugees need the most? A volunteer
from the charity came to visit us to answer our questions.
1940's NewhamThis week in Year 4 we have begun to explore our new project's question "How can we bring 1940s Newham to the present day?". The children spent time learning about the big facts of World War 2 and discovering more about what life was like during the outbreak of war.
We had a particular focus on evacuation and heard the story of Ms Ranken's grandparent's own evacuation at the same age as us. We asked probing questions in order to find out more, it was great.
Proffessionalism Certificate WinnersThis week we celebrated the attribute of professionalism. Our winners were: Leah, Jase, Abdallah, Camilla, Martina, Imran, Abeerah, Sabrina, Shalaan, Naomi, Samira, Maryam, Krishna, Maverick and Erget. Well done everyone!
