Compass Teaching and Learning ConferenceNT PHN hosted the annual Compass Teaching and Learning Conference in Darwin on November 23-24. This two-day conference had an exciting roster of speakers showcasing many of the successes and opportunities in providing integrated models of care in the primary health sector in the NT. The Health Professional of the Year Awards were also presented on Friday evening at the conference Gala Dinner. Congratulations to all the inspirational award nominees and winners who were recognised for making a difference to the provision of primary health care in NT, including NTGPE's very own GP supervisor, Dr Bruce Hocking who was awarded GP of the Year. Dr Hocking was commended for always taking into account the clients wishes and beliefs and involving the client in their own medical journey. He is able to tailor the western medical model, more to the client's individual and personal situation and always strives to work in collaboration with the client and their family. Have you signed an employment contract?GP registrars must make sure they have a signed employment contract in place prior to starting their next placement. Just like any other job, GP registrars need to agree to all the terms and conditions set out in their contracts and if there are any issues they need to negotiate them with the training post prior to starting. If GP registrars are unsure of what their entitlements are or what can be negotiated, please visit National Terms and Conditions, Fair Work Australia or GPRA for further guidance. 4WD safety for GP registrarsGP registrars who are required to drive off-road during their time with a training post, need to complete a 4WD course. If you need 4WD training, please discuss directly with your employer. Here is a list of NT road safety tips to consider before your next trip. In summary, the conditions set out in the current NTCER are not changing. GPSA, GPRA and the AMA are currently in discussions about an addendum to the NTCER to clarify pay rates which increased as of July 1, 2018 in line with the MBS item 23. GPSA advise that training posts can safely engage their registrars for 2019 under the same conditions as the 2017-18 NTCER. Are you in need of an employment agreement template? |
