The Graduate School's Professional Skills Programme The Graduate School’s programme of professional skills development courses runs between mid-October and the end of June each year. No workshops will be delivered in July, August or September. You are therefore advised to book Graduate School courses in good time to ensure that you can meet the professional skills requirements by June.
An ORCID iD is a unique researcher identifier which can be added to your research outputs to ensure that your work is easily distinguished from that of other researchers. ORCID is becoming an international standard with over 3 million iDs registered by researchers, and now used by an increasing number of publishers, funders and universities. Why get an ORCID iD?A master's thesis or doctoral dissertation is often a researcher's first publication, but it often lacks the visibility of more formally published materials. Integration of ORCID identifiers in the electronic thesis and dissertation (ETD) process helps to raise the
visibility of these important contributions and also can provide a verifiable link with the student's graduate institution. ORCID is a community-driven project, open to all researchers in any discipline and at any career stage. An ORCID iD will move with you across institutions, ensuring continuity of identity across your academic career. Your ORCID profile is managed by you and can be linked to a range of information such as publications, research data, grants, education and employment history. You can create your ORCID iD at https://orcid.org. For further information, go to our
webpages or contact the Library at orcid@imperial.ac.uk.

EMBRACE Workshop & Dragon's Den Competition
Tackling the Global Challenge of Antimicrobial ResistanceFriday 14 July 2017 | 14:00-18:00
Imperial College Business School | South KensingtonThe Workshop This educational workshop, aimed at PhD students and early career post-docs, will introduce you to the challenges we are facing in antimicrobial resistance (AMR). We are also inviting you to show us how your research could be applied to solving this problem. Attendees will have the opportunity to become familiarised with the challenges in AMR through a series of presentations by the EMBRACE pump priming and sandpit awardees. Following the afternoon presentations, there will be a networking event and BBQ where the participants will have the opportunity to interact with our cohort of experienced multidisciplinary researchers working in
the field of AMR. The Competition We are inviting PhD students and early career post-doctoral researchers, either as individuals or groups, to give a 5 minute “Dragons Den” style pitch to a panel of experts as to how their research can contribute to addressing the challenge of AMR. Interested participants are invited to submit an abstract (200 words max, PDF format) on how their approach could achieve this. The presentation can be done solo or in a group and the winners will receive £1000 funding from EMBRACE and mentorship from world experts in the field towards implementing their idea and furthering their career through potential applications for funding. You are encouraged to discuss your application with your supervisor/line manager before you
apply. For more information please see the following webpages, or contact joao.reis@imperial.ac.uk if you want to attend or participate in the competition.
