This postcard of Bedford College was sent to former art teacher, Miss Olive Pink in 1914. Born in Hobart, she had taught briefly at the girls’ college before the war. In later life she made her home in Alice Springs becoming an Aboriginal rights activist, anthropologist and gardener. Today, the Olive Pink Botanic Garden continues her legacy. The college at 99 Albert Road Strathfield has had a number of uses over the years and is now home to the Catholic Institute of Sydney. Image courtesy of the University of Tasmania |
