Video: Closing comments from Mark O'Donnell, 98% Give New Public Realm Areas Seal of Approval A General Public Perceptions survey focusing on the Portrush public realm scheme has indicated overwhelming support for its impact on the resort. Conducted by the Causeway Coast & Glens Borough Council, 100 members of the public were surveyed on Friday 23 and Saturday 24 August. Ninety-Eight percent of respondents described their overall perception of the new public realm area of Portrush as being either ‘very good’ (80%) or ‘good’ (18%); the remaining 2% felt that the area was average. Whilst 30% liked the seating the most, 9% liked the smooth paving the most and a further 9% liked that the area was cleaner, tidier, more presentable and had a fresh appearance. Record Passenger Numbers During The 148th Open With Portrush welcoming huge numbers during The 148th Open period, Translink was delighted to record approximately 200,000 passenger journeys travelling to and from the town during period 14-21 July, with unprecedented demand for Translink bus, coach and train services throughout the championship. We were delighted to showcase the £5.6m Portrush Train Station to tens of thousands of visitors during the championship. Chris Conway, Translink Group Chief Executive, said; "Every available bus, coach and train was used to deliver our golf transport plan providing convenient journey options for spectators while also maintaining normal services for our regular customers. "We were pleased to play our role in ensuring hundreds of thousands of people enjoyed this spectacular championship and showcasing the Causeway Coast to visitors from all across the world."
