Congratulations Toongabbie PicklersThe Toongabbie Picklers are celebrating their 1st pickleball anniversary at Binalong Park on Friday, June 4 from 9:30am – 12:00pm. Following Council installing pickleball lines on the Binalong Park courts in early 2020, the first session of pickleball for the group was played in June 2020 with four players using one court. By the third week, there were 19 players using four courts. A second weekday session commenced from July and a night session introduced from November covering a total of 60 sessions played across 2020. Momentum has continued in 2021 with a now regular Monday night, Tuesday morning and Friday morning session as well as partnering with Council on free Better Ageing programs at both Binalong Park and West Epping Park and Grandparents versus Grandkids school holiday activity. Invitation to Participate in FirstCPR ProjectDo you know that every year, 25,000 Australians suffer a sudden cardiac arrest in the community? Less than 1 in 10 people survive a cardiac arrest. However, if CPR is started promptly the chance of survival increases significantly. Westmead Applied Research Centre (WARC), The University of Sydney, is launching FirstCPR, an educational study aiming to increase the number of people in the community that are trained and willing to perform CPR.
