Introducing the new b2

We saw success in our inaugural b1 model and heeded shout-outs for a thru-axle model. Recently we introduced the b1’s newest cohort-in-crime, toolbox chum and closest ally, the b2. Hearing the overwhelmingly positive feedback from new owners has us geeked out.

The world’s first craft-brewed thru-axle chain keeper

butter's new b2

The b2 is the first-of-its-kind chain holder for 12mm thru-axle bike systems. No other company in this gorgeous world offers such a tool.

Why? Because axle standards are far from standardized and no one took on the challenge to create a universally adaptable chain keeper. We did, and truthfully it took a few years, but we figured it out.

butter configured the b2 to take advantage of the 12mm axle diameter so that it locks in place regardless of thread position, eliminating the guess factor for you or a need for us to produce a dozen different product options. Dog Ear Technology© orients the tool’s position and locks the b2 into the dropout to automatically prevent rotation.

Slide it into the axle dropout, twist, and you’re locked and loaded.

You could do this with one hand. Really.

Designed to be sleek, unobtrusive, and provide easy access to the rear end of the bike, the tool is precision-machined from the finest materials available. b2s are made here in the US of A and are assembled by hand in Boulder, Colorado. We’re pretty proud of that.

Here’s where we need an asterisk:

The new Focus bikes RAT system has thrown a minor wrench into toolboxes as their hybrid axle model won’t work with any semblance of a chain keeper – and since we’re the only brand manufacturing a thru-axle keeper the weight is on our shoulders.

So you Focus riders (hundreds affected at best now but numbers will burgeon as time goes on) need to hold tight. Not to worry, we love a good mindbender and we’ll work out a solution.

The b2 is compatible with the standard 142x12mm thru axle and is not compatible with 10mm diameter axles or any other non-standard variants (i.e. the Focus RAT system).
