Click here The great maverick cellist, friend, collaborator, and our music brother, David Darling, has passed.David was a hilarious genius who could get an audience of 1000 shaking their car keys and singing a wild shrieking chant all together, making a tribal music community for the future out of the present. We had the fun and privilege of working together for decades. With poet and translator of Rumi, Coleman Barks, world percussionist Glen Velez, drummer Gordy Ryan, and many more, we collaborated in hundreds of Rumi Concerts across the land. We met at Omega Institute in the early days, and we have traveled, performed , taught and worked together since, for many years. Wanting people to find freedom in the listening and playing of music, David founded Music for People, and got thousands of people improvising. His sonorous cello made people sigh. May he be welcomed into the celestial symphonies in the stars . —Zuleikha
