ASQA, TEQSA and NEAS

A "reminder" for those NEAS providers that were on leave over the break and may have missed a number of press releases and announcements before Christmas, relating to the outcome of discussions held between NEAS, TEQSA and ASQA.

QALEN is formed!

The formation of a new global Quality Assurance agency in English Language teaching is underway!  QALEN stands for Quality Assurance in Language Education Network and covers providers in Europe, the USA, South East Asia, New Zealand and Australia.  The group exchanges best practice knowledge and research through a collaborative framework. 

Quality Assurance and Accreditation Agencies that have confirmed their engagement include

English New Zealand (ELT Quality Assurance) 

ACCET (Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training - USA)

NEAS (National ELT Accreditation Scheme - Australia and South East Asia)

Associated QA and accreditation providers are involved at a secondary level and plans for more agencies to become involved in the network are set for the coming year.  The next QALEN meeting for 2015 will be held at a location to be determined.

 

NEAS Position Vacant

Quality Assurance Officer

NEAS is seeking the services of a Quality Assurance Officer, with the remit to undertake QA visits and assessments in Australia and abroad.  A background in teaching, management, compliance and quality assurance education in any of the post-high school education sectors (ie: ELT, higher and vocational education) will be highly regarded.

Your duties will include managing QA visits for both ELICOS and AMEP centres, representing NEAS at conferences locally and overseas, the delivery of professional development workshops and seminars and participation in the annual NEAS Conference.

A note:  if you are interested in applying for this role and are currently employed with a NEAS member centre, for reasons of good governance please ensure you have informed your supervisor that you will may submitting this application.

Full time package value (including superannuation) is $100,000.00, including superannuation, four weeks leave with loading and travel benefits.   Potential part-time options are available.

FELTOM and NEAS sign Memorandum of Understanding

NEAS’ global strategy includes close collaboration with peer group quality assurance and accreditation providers that maintain a language teaching focus.  

As part of this strategy, we are pleased to announce that NEAS and FELTOM (Federation of English Language Teaching Organisations - Malta) have entered into a memorandum of understanding, to collaborate and provide support on matters that promote quality in the English language teaching sector.
