Simultaneously, they may also be coming to terms with how their looks and feelings have changed and developed over the summer months. Puberty can affect children in different ways, at varying ages, and can become a source of stress, comparison, anxiety, and disassociation for some. At Bright Educational, our collection of artwork hopes to 'speak' to children. To encourage acceptance, inspire confidence, and normalise open discussions around a process which can be bewildering. When she was young, she was given the danish version of “Pippi Longstocking” illustrated by Ingrid Van Nyman. Nyman’s illustrations have been an inspiration to her ever since. Maja’s style of artwork is whimsical in subject matter and textured graphic in style. She also enjoys drawing in line-work with limited colour. Often Maja’s inspiration comes from international folk art. Jane grew up with a pencil in her left hand and a piece of paper in the other. As a child, she practically absorbed every cartoon and fairy tale she could find and would draw as if each stroke of a pen brings the characters to life. She finished her Bachelor’s degree in the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines. A year after graduating, she moved to Dubai and continued work as a freelance illustrator.
