Upcoming night works what to expect: Subject to traffic management approvals, night works are taking place this week at the Upper Queen Street corner to move the existing traffic light. These night works are taking place in the evening due to lower pedestrian and vehicle numbers as changes to traffic management are required. To do this safely there will be changes to vehicle and pedestrian access during these works and diversions will be in place. Works include moving the existing traffic light to a temporary drum so that work on the kerbline can continue, and relocating existing infrastructure out of the carriageway. This work is expected to take three nights to complete, starting from 19:30 to 04:30 each night. Please note there will be intermittent medium to high volume noise, i.e. grinding but we will endeavour to have noisy works completed by 10:30pm Mercury Lane to West TerraceWe have completed the first phase of East Street which was to install the future-proof ducting across the intersection. Upcoming works - what to expect:
Temporary Traffic management change - East Street: The second phase of work is to construct the East Street speed table. We will return late June to construct the speed table. West Terrace temporary road closure - planned start mid June: Work to construct the speed table in West Terrace is planned to start mid-June, subject to traffic management approval. Due to the narrow nature of West Terrace, a temporary road closure is required to construct the speed table. There will be no access to West Terrace via Karangahape Road. Vehicle access will be provided to residents only via Galatos Street. Pedestrian access from Karangahape Road to West Terrace will be unavailable during working hours. However in the evenings, we will reduce our working space/fencing and make pedestrian access available. During the day pedestrian access to Karangahape Road from West Terrace will be via East Street and Galatos Street. This work is expected to take 6 weeks. OverbridgeThe steel work for the overbridge has been fabricated and will be delivered this week. Upcoming works - what to expect:
Hereford Street to Howe StreetThe traffic management plans allow for work on one side of Howe Street at a time. We have exposed the existing services and have also commenced installation of new ducting in this location. Upcoming works - what to expect:
