A terrible Charmander tattoo, an AMA from Mr. Belding, r/India fights for net neutrality, fun with pencils, and more.

reddit’s official newsletter

Welcome to our first issue! Generations from now, your great grandchildren will dust off this yellowed relic and wonder what it must have been like to get news delivered via email instead of directly into their brains.

We heard from everyone’s favorite principal, Mr. Belding, and the story behind his signature catchphrase. Even though there was a decisive blow to opponents of Net Neutrality in the US, India is still in the thick of it and using reddit to mobilize. Finally we learned that sometimes it’s probably best not to do a tattoo yourself—even if you think you totally can do it. Check out the full story on these and more below.

And as always, you can discuss this week’s edition (and every edition) on r/upvoted.

My friend was drunk and on Xanax when he decided to tattoo a black face Charmander with no experience or artistic ability. The flame saves it.
The internet was abuzz with this terrible drunken self-made Charmander tattoo that yllwsnow2 submitted, but did you see that Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew) showed up for the roast?

Dennis Haskins—or as you might know him—Mr. Belding from Saved By the Bell showed up for his first AMA. In it he gives some great life advice, a behind the scenes look at Bayside High, and a preview of his upcoming music release.

I sent letters to all 30 NBA teams. The Timberwolves responded, sent me a signed ball, and few my family and I to Minnesota to see a game court side!

The Timberwolves earned a new fan by flying redditor sibewolf and their family out to Minneapolis for a game. He met the players, got autographs, and enjoyed courtside treatment.

Another redditor happened to be at the game, and chimed in:

I was at this game.

When they announced you I was like "Hey it's that reddit guy! We out here fam!"

P.S.
A redditor, WhatWeOnlyFantasize on /r/Dataisbeautiful did a fabulous job breaking down the difference between football (USA & Canada) and football (rest of the world) and why it’s so polarizing for fans of each sport. Save this for the next time you’re about to get into a debate.
