Australian Postgraduate Awards (APA) and University of Sydney Postgraduate Awards (UPA) are offered to postgraduate research students undertaking a higher degree by research at the University of Sydney.

Preferences for Genomic Information in Cancer and Cardiovascular Disease
The NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre is offering a full-time postgraduate scholarship in Health Economics, ‘Preferences for Genomic Information in Cancer and Cardiovascular Disease’. Applicants should have an undergraduate degree in a quantitative discipline such as economics or biostatistics and demonstrated health economics research/consulting experience. Applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand citizens. The scholarship is a tax-free stipend valued up to the NHMRC Priority PhD rate ($33,318 per annum in 2016, with allowances). Further Details and How to Apply

Frontotemporal dementia and motor degenerative syndromes scholarship
A scholarship is available to domestic students to undertake a full-time MPhil or PhD investigating the neuropathology of FTD under the supervision of Professor Jillian Kril. The research will be conducted in the neuropathology laboratory, Discipline of Pathology, Sydney Medical School. The award, commencing 2016, is for one year, but may be extended subject to satisfactory progress. Applicants must have BSc(Hons) or equivalent and the scholarship is available to domestic students only. The stipend will be equivalent to the Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) rate: $26,288. Postgraduate Research Scholarship in Computational Mechanics
This is a PhD position related to performance of granular matrix under heavy haul cyclic loading relevant to road and rail applications. The Scholarship is open to domestic and international applicants who are enrolled in a PhD within the School of Civil Engineering at the University of Sydney by the Scholarship application deadline. Scholarship will be granted to an exceptional candidate with deep knowledge in programming, mathematics, and geotechnical engineering. Applicants must have a degree in Mathematics, Physics, or Engineering. The Scholarship will provide stipend funding is for a period of three years with a possible 6 months extension subject to satisfactory publication record. Further Details and How to Apply

The Leslie Rich Scholarship for Research into Dementia
The Leslie Rich Scholarship for Research into Dementia was established in 2013 by a bequest to the University of Sydney from the Estate of Mrs Hermina Rich to honour her late husband, Leslie Rich who had suffered from Alzheimer’s Disease. Applications are open to students enrolled at the University of Sydney in a Masters degree by research or a doctoral Program. Applicants will be working on a research project in the field of dementia. Applicants will be Australian citizens or have Australian permanent residency status. The scholarship will provide up to $10,000 towards travel, conference or laboratory costs to pursue or enhance the project. Further Details and How to Apply

Quality Use of Medicines in Dementia PhD/Top-Up Scholarship
A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably qualified candidate with a good honours degree or equivalent in pharmacy, nursing, medicine or a health science discipline to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in Pharmacy. The project is to develop a model for medication management for dementia in primary care. Applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand citizens. The scholarship will be valued at the same rate as the Australian Postgraduate Award, and will be indexed annually. It may be renewed for up to three years, subject to satisfactory progress. For candidates that are successful in obtaining an APA, a top-up scholarship to the value of $10,000 per annum is possible. Further Details and How to Apply

PhD Scholarship in the Community Pharmacy – Research into Policy
The Community Pharmacy – Research into Policy PHD Scholarship was created in 2016 to promote the integrity of the pharmacist as a public health professional. The scholarship is to be awarded to a student who will be undertaking full-time postgraduate study by research based at the Charles Perkins Centre and through the Faculty of Pharmacy. Eligible applicants must be Australian citizen, a New Zealand citizen, and Australian permanent resident, or a holder of a VISA that allows the applicant to enrol as a domestic student and have completed a Bachelor Degree with a first class honours degree (or H1 equivalent result e.g., MPhil) in Public Health, Pharmacy, Law or equivalent four year discipline, to undertake research studies leading to a Research Doctorate (PhD). The scholarship shall provide a stipend of $30,000 per annum. Further Details and How to Apply
