Orange Shirt day is an annual event held each September 30th in remembrance of the Canadian Residential School system and the impact of this government policy on First Nations. Phyllis Webstad presents her memories of Residential schools and the meaning of Orange Shirt Day.

National Day For Truth and Reconciliation
On September 30, take time to reflect. By listening to the stories and experiences of Indigenous people, we can honour, and bring awareness to, the victims and survivors of residential schools in the spirit of reconciliation.

Orange Shirt day is an opportunity to discuss the impact of residential schools on past, present and future generations and why every child matters. Read "The Orange Shirt Story" by Phyllis Webstad as the author shares her memories of residential school and the meaning of Orange Shirt Day.
