HeadtoHelp: Connecting Victorians to mental health servicesAt the beginning of August, the Minister for Health, Greg Hunt, announced extended funding for the HeadtoHelp (Victorian) and Head to Health (National) services until 30 June 2022. The Minister of Health encouraged Victorians:
Victorians (including tradies) are feeling overwhelmed and may not know where to go for support. Although HeadtoHelp is useful to those who need support, it can also be seen as a valuable resource to general practitioners who see patients that require assistance with their mental health. HeadtoHelp connects Victorians to relevant mental health support and treatment services. For more information, including free access to digital poster files, and assets in languages other than English, visit SEMPHN’s HeadtoHelp page. Anyone can call HeadtoHelp central intake on 1800 595 212, Monday to Friday, 8.30am-5pm. HeadtoHelp services do not provide after-hours or emergency mental health advice or support. Referrals open for ResetLife Casey: Alcohol and Other Drugs treatment programSince the pandemic, around 1 in 5 adults purchased more alcohol, with the highest consumption in adult males and females aged 35-44. People experiencing alcohol and drug addiction in the Casey region will now have free access to therapeutic support to help them regain control over their substance use through the ResetLife service. ResetLife is a highly structured program that includes individual, group, and family education sessions. The program guides the client through real-life situations, giving information and skills to help regain control over drug and alcohol use. The treatment runs for 52 weeks with 16 weeks of Intensive structured treatment followed by 36 weeks of continuing care. Clients will attend formal treatment three days per week and informal treatment the other days of the week. The service will commence on 1 September 2021.
