Click here to read the annual report. Domestic and family violence Domestic violence is often the reason that people seek assistance from a health service. It is a complex issue which includes behaviours that control or dominate a person, causing them to fear for their own (or someone else's) safety. GPs are in a unique position to identify cases of domestic and family violence. Click here to read more. Unsure if you are a current recognised/ affiliated ANSC GP? At the end of 2016, a number of GPs participating in an ANSC program did not fulfill their educational requirements to remain a recognised/ affiliated ANSC GP. All ANSC GPs should clarify with their medical indemnity provider the requirements regarding antenatal shared care as breaches of ANSC protocol may have implications. Click here to find out more. Mental Health Shared Care People experiencing serious mental illness visit the GP more often but are screened less frequently for common conditions than the rest of the population. CESPHN and SLHD Mental Health Service have partnered to implement a new model of care to address this health inequity. Click here to learn more about Mental Health Shared Care. Ability Links success stories Ability Links NSW works closely with people with disability, their families and carers to support them to fulfil their goals, hopes and dreams. Get Healthy Information and Coaching Service The Get Healthy Information and Coaching Service is a free, confidential phone coaching service that supports participants in reaching personalised lifestyle goals. The service offers six coaching programs that are tailored to meet the different needs of its patients. Haemoglobinopathy carrier testing Thalassaemia screening is routine for all women attending RPA Women and Babies/ Canterbury Hospital. The SLHD Antenatal Shared Care protocol currently recommends that all pregnant women have this testing as a part of the routine first trimester blood tests. Click here to read more. Obesity management workshop With 25% of children and 63% of adults in Australia afflicted by weight problems, our nation's health professionals have an urgent need to become experts in the identification and treatment of overweight and obese patients. Identifying and responding to the abuse of older people Every year, one in twenty older people in our community experience abuse at the hands of people they know and trust. Only one in five of these cases is identified and reported. All Things Aged Care Forum On 12 August 2017, the Aged Care Team successfully coordinated the "All Things Aged Care Forum". This innovative CPD event provided a concise clinical update on a range of topics to assist health practitioners. Central Sydney GP Network - "Tuning in to Kids" Central Sydney GP Network is proud to announce a grant for the "Tuning in to Kids" parenting program for families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds in Canterbury run by the Canterbury Child and Family Interagency. Launch of NewAccess On the 27th of October, CESPHN was a part of the launch of NewAccess alongside beyondblue and Bolton Clarke. NewAccess is a free service that has been funded by CESPHN, developed by beyondblue and is being delivered by Bolton Clarke. It aims to help those with mild to moderate mental health challenges. Click here to read more. Partnerships workshop On 20 October 2017 CESPHN held a Partnerships workshop attended by many of the organisations and people we partner with. In attendance were a diverse group of close to 80 people including consumers, local NGOs, GPs, allied health professionals, local health district and network, university and private health insurance.
