This edition of Defence Week wraps up our coverage of Ex Pitch Black. Deputy Editor Nigel Pittaway leads with a story on the people behind the scenes - "whilst it’s very easy to focus on the aviators flying the aircraft, they are but a very small part of what is a very big machine."

In other news, I sit down with COL Gabby Follett of 17 CSSB, LTCOL Kierin Joyce of Army UAS, and David Mann of UAVAir to talk about the Phantom delivery, having attended their open day earlier this week.

Our STEM in Defence summit saw a range of speakers discuss STEM challenges, UNSW Canberra Space marks a successful nine months for the Buccaneer mission, a school from Melbourne wins Lockheed Martin's coding competition, the ISO publishes specifications for small satellites, and Melbourne-based SME Anywise becomes a certified B Corporation.

And of course, the current house announcements: Forms for this year's Top 40 Defence Contractors survey will be sent out in early September, as will Expressions of Interest for the next round of the Essington Lewis awards. Register now for ADM's Defence Estate and Base Services Summit, to be held on September 19th in Canberra. More information is available here.
