Help inform and shape the future

The Town of Caledon, in partnership with the Region of Peel, will be conducting the Town of Caledon Business Employment Survey.

The first door-to-door survey of businesses was conducted in 2014. This vital information is being updated for 2016 during the period of May to August.

We encourage you to take a few minutes to participate – and we appreciate your support. The survey will gather key business and employment information that is used to inform regional and area municipal policy directions and initiatives. The information is used for a variety of purposes, including:

  • monitoring local economic trends;
  • forecasting infrastructure and hard service requirements;
  • shaping the formulation of new policy by governments;
  • analyzing and marketing local business sectors; and
  • creating business attraction and retention strategies

Please remember that a Region of Peel employee will be visiting your business between May and August to conduct this survey.

Six Villages Community Improvement Plan

The Six Villages Community Improvement Plan, approved by Town council in May, is a revitalization strategy for Alton, Caledon Village, Cheltenham, Inglewood, Mono Mills and Palgrave. The Plan outlines a series of proposed improvements to sidewalks, pedestrian connections, streetscapes, parks and other spaces.

The Plan also outlines financial incentives (grants) made available to private property owners and tenants. The grants are designed to encourage investments in commercial and mixed use properties, and contribute towards the revitalization and beautification of each of the six villages.

Canada 150 Celebrations in Headwaters

Headwaters area tourism operators and municipal representatives have started to explore ways to work together to celebrate Canada’s 150 sesquicentennial. There was significant interest in working together to leverage the impact of this milestone national anniversary in the Headwaters area, and the group agreed to the following:

  • with the goal of having something happening each week in 2017, plan events for significant impact over the course of 2017;
  • coordinate event planning with a shared calendar and minimize competing events;
  • encourage organizers to create a Canada 150 theme for existing events in 2017 (and not feel obligated to create new events); and
  • develop a Headwaters Canada 150 brand, and promote all regional Canada 150 events under this umbrella brand.

The group will convene again in late August to further refine plans, and other stakeholders will be invited to join the planning group. In the meantime, groups and businesses who are planning Canada 150 events are invited to share those plans with Headwaters Tourism, to begin building the shared planning calendar.

To share your plans or if you have questions please email real@headwaters.ca
