Celebrate the Good NewsKim Gorman, Betsy Aspinwal and Paula Demonet's proposal was accepted and they will be presenting on the CAPS video series at the UNC Behavioral Health meeting on February 6, 2019. Dr. Colton Brown, Psychologist in CAPS, recently passed the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology and the North Carolina State Licensing Exam. WCU Online Safety Training ProgramOn February 1st you should have received an email from customerservice@learnatvivid regarding general awareness safety training courses. This email was not a phishing attempt. All full-time WCU employees have been assigned a core set of general awareness safety training courses. Please take the time to review the email and complete the training within the next thirty days. Changes Coming to 25LiveDo you reserve rooms in 25Live? If you do, starting the week of March 18th you will see some changes in the system. In order to improve the room reservation experience for students, room names and numbers will be displayed in reverse order in 25Live. You will see the room number in the first line and room name in the second line. You will still be able to search by room name but you will need to ‘favorite’ the room numbers now. Banner spaces will also be available to ‘favorite’. Professional Development Survey Results AvailableThis fall, the Staff Senate administered a survey to learn more about the professional development needs of staff across campus. The survey asked about availability of funding to support professional development and the average cost of professional development and training needs. The results of the survey are being used to advocate for institutional support to fund staff professional development. Read the executive summary of the survey results. Talent DevelopmentPlease take advantage of the training opportunities available on campus: Talent & professional development PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT ON THE GO Free Open, Online Course: Applying and Leading Assessment in Student AffairsThe Student Affairs Assessment Leaders (SAAL) organization, in partnership with Colorado State University (CSU) Online and CSU Student Affairs in Higher Education graduate program, has created an 8-week course focused on assessment in Student Affairs. The curriculum is self-paced and open to anyone who is interested. Modules 1 and 2 are currently available and registration is open until the course ends on March 18, 2019. Unless you have experienced poverty, it's difficult to truly understand. This simulation is an interactive, immersion experience that sensitizes participants to the realities of poverty. Tunnel of Oppression February 19 and 20The Tunnel of Oppression is meant to raise awareness and understanding of different forms of oppression. Focusing on the concept of bullying, the Tunnel will focus on mental health, gun control, the NFL kneeling controversy, pipeline treaties, global warming, racism, the US border crisis, sex trafficking, and transgender rights.
