SERVICES GUIDE

How can the PHN assist you? Download the Services Guide to find out!

Central and Eastern Sydney PHN has produced a comprehensive Services Guide that lives on our website under the "What we do" tab. It outlines the services we provide and those we fund. The guide was developed so that health professionals are aware of the services that are available to them in the central and eastern Sydney area and how the PHN can help them.

Support for health professionals is divided into three main areas:

  • Workforce Development covers continual professional development, peer group learning and other areas to update knowledge.
  • Practice Support covers telehealth accreditation and other aspects of helping make a practice more efficient.
  • Clinical Support which includes HealthPathways, immunisation support and the new GPCanShare program, designed to simplify the cancer treatment experience.

Chief Medical Officer letter to GPs - Increasing notifications of infections syphilis in women of reproductive age

Notifications of infectious syphilis among non-Indigenous and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women of reproductive age have substantially increased, particularly in major cities of Australia, posing an increased risk of congenital syphilis and adverse pregnancy outcomes.

Specific actions for clinicians include:

  • Repeat testing in pregnant women at high risk of infection or reinfection
  • Consider infectious syphilis as a possibility when conducting sexually transmissible infection screening
  • Test for infectious syphilis in any sexually active young person where they, or their partner, resides in an area of high prevalence
