Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

Did you know? Each year in the U.S. approximately 15,780 children between the ages of birth and 19 years of age are diagnosed with cancer.  Of that, over 800 parents throughout Northern California will hear the words, “Your child has cancer”.

Childhood cancer occurs regularly, randomly, and does not discriminate by ethnic group, socioeconomic class, or geographic region.

That's why every September we take time to raise awareness & spread the word about childhood cancer.

Find out how you can make a difference today at Keaton's Child Cancer Alliance

The Reality for Hundreds of Local Families

Each year, over 800 parents throughout Northern California will hear the words, “Your child has cancer.” From that moment, a family’s life is forever changed. No family can ever prepare for this news nor would ever even think about cancer impacting their children. Unfortunately, childhood cancer occurs randomly and does not discriminate by ethnic group, socioeconomic class, or geographic region. This leaves parents-guardians overwhelmed with questions, anxious about their child’s wellbeing, and in doubt of how to address their new needs, all the while trying to be emotionally strong for their children.

Our goal at Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance is to assist in taking care of the family so that they can focus on their child’s treatment and recovery. KCCA Family Navigators provide a caring heart and a compassionate ear to local families while helping to improve their quality of life and embrace their will to survive. Our comprehensive community-based program assists families in navigating the complexities of a childhood cancer diagnosis which include and are not limited to: health and social service systems, financial hardships, language and cultural barriers, advocacy for child’s needs, educational support, mental health wellbeing, and transportation assistance.  Continue reading HERE.

Sponsor Highlight

On behalf of all the families we support, the staff and our Board of Director's, thank you for including Keaton's Child Cancer Alliance in this truly wonderful inaugural event . Everyone who participated was so gracious, supportive and smiling throughout the entire event.

According to host, Dennis Mulgannon: “A child cancer diagnosis is scary and stressful for the entire family. Keaton’s Alliance cares for the child and the entire family, fostering strength, hope and healing for all. Little Fenway West is an inspired creation to help raise funds and awareness for charities like Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance and the people who contribute to a strong and compassionate community.”

KCCA especially thanks you for encouraging Chaz, our "Kiddo" for throwing out the first pitch for the Home Run Derby. Chaz's grandma, Sue, was not sure that Chaz was going to get over his shyness, but you got him there. And from there, Chaz came out of his shell and ran with the other young kids and smiled the entire time. For the first time since before his cancer diagnosis, Chaz was a just a kid, not a cancer patient. Sue cherished the wonderful time she shared with Chaz at River Rock Ranch. You helped provide them both with a beautiful memory that will always outshine the dark times. For that we cannot thank you enough.

Little Fenway West is a colossal home run!!!!

We were so honored to be a part of it and to be a recipient of the support of all the participants in the whiffle ball tournament.

And to you "Commish", thank you for your incredible generosity and for sharing your dreams with all of us.

The Glow for Gold Gala has become THE EVENT to attend and we welcome you to be surprised by what we have in store for you this year. Come in white with a splash of sunset and celebrate the Endless Summer with us!
