All Ireland U19 Badminton Victory

Congratulations to The High School Senior Boys' Badminton team who defeated teams from Connacht, Munster, and Ulster to win the All Ireland U19 Division 2 Badminton championship for the first time in the history of the school.  The squad had previously won the Dublin and Leinster Schools championships to qualify for the finals of the All Ireland competition.  We warmly congratulate the team on its achievements in 2017-18 and wish all members of the squad every success in future competitions.

Junior Drama Success

On 15 March we performed the Junior Play: 'The (Almost) Totally True Story of Hansel and Gretel.'  It is a comedy which means that we had lots of fun with this production.  There was a lot of work involved too and we had many rehearsals after school on Thursdays and Fridays.  It didn't feel like work though because it was so entertaining to watch everyone read their lines as you waited for your turn on stage.  We all had a chance to talk to people we never would have spoke to before and to make new friends.  The dress rehearsal was very funny as it was our first time wearing stage-makeup and costumes.  I loved the hours before the actual performance the most as the excitement backstage began to build.  It was great to hear the audience's reaction to the play; they laughed constantly.  I was so proud of what we had achieved together.  The cast and backstage crew did an amazing job and I cannot wait to do it all again next year.

Leinster Hockey Senior Cup Final

Congratulations to The High School Senior 1 boys' hockey team which defeated Wesley College 4-1 to qualify for the final of the Leinster Hockey Association Schoolboys Senior Cup for only the second time in the history of the school.   The final round of the competition was played at Three Rock Rovers Hockey Club on Wednesday.  The HSD team played very well throughout and both sides were evenly matched 1-1  after extra time.  Unfortunately, luck was not on our side this time and the opposition won the match 5-3 on penalty strokes.  Our players are keenly anticipating the Leinster Hockey Association Schoolboys League and Senior Trophy finals after Easter.  We warmly wish them every success in these competitions.

Leinster Schools Rugby Triumph

Congratulations to The High School U17 rugby team which beat St Mary's College 21-15 to win the final of the Leinster Schools Senior 3 league.  We warmly congratulate the team on its achievements in 2017-18 and wish all members of the squad every success in future competitions.

Form 1 Rugby Tour

On Friday 16 March The High School Form 1 rugby team went down to Cork to play two matches against Presentation College, Cork.  We won one game and lost one.  Both teams played well, worked hard, enjoyed the match, and were congratulated at the end of a good season.  After the match we went to the hotel and enjoyed the rest of the trip.  That evening we watched the Ireland U20 match against England. The next day we left the hotel at 10.00 am and arrived at The High School at 2.00 pm.  We're glad we have finished this season on a high note and we cannot wait to play again next season.
