Privacy alert
It has come to our attention that some medical practices in the eastern suburbs have been receiving deceptive phone calls. The individuals involved claim to be calling from a hospital and request patient contact details.

If anyone in your practice receives such a call, be sure not to disclose any patient details without confirming the identity of the caller and obtaining patient consent. Local hospitals and police have been informed.

Digital health PIP deadline extended
General practices registered for the practice incentives program eHealth (ePIP) incentive have been given a six-month extension to the deadline for uploading shared health summaries to My Health Record. The Minister for Health has agreed to amend the requirements for ePIP, allowing practices to build towards the target by 31 January 2017, rather than in three separate quarterly targets. A spokeswoman for the Department of Health said practices will be formally notified in the coming weeks.

If your practice has NOT been able to participate in the ePIP incentive for whatever reason you now have sufficient time to meet the requirements and receive your payment for three quarters. For assistance in meeting the required number of shared health summary uploads, please contact a member of our Digital Health Team on 9799 0933 (Ashfield Office) or 9330 9900 (Kogarah Office) or email digitalhealth@cesphn.com.au

Domestic and Family Violence CPD event - Tuesday 18 October
To support in identifying and responding to women and children who have experienced or are experiencing domestic and family violence, we are holding an educational event aimed at enhancing and upskilling health professionals' knowledge and awareness of domestic and family violence issues, and available support services. The event titled 'Encouraging the conversation: Strategies to assist with discussing domestic and family violence' will be held at our Ashfield Office on Tuesday 18 October 2016.

Second ePIP quarter... ending October
Since the start of this ePIP quarter there were more than 5,700 shared health summaries uploaded for more than 178,000 patients registered for My Health Record living in the CESPHN area. Well done to all practices working hard on this so far. The current ePIP quarter will be ending this month and if you have not begun uploading shared health summaries the following guides may be able to assist.

It is also a good time to ensure other ePIP requirements are being met, one of which requires practices to ensure that their secure messaging delivery (SMD) systems are properly deployed for operation, as described in the Commissioning Requirements for Secure Message Delivery. To assist with most commissioning processes you will need to have the SMD software installed, be able access to HPOS, have your NASH CD and NASH password available.

If you need assistance with commissioning, get in touch with your SMD provider (Healthlink, Argus or Medical Objects), who will provide a checklist that your SMD software has been successfully tested and commissioned. As always our Digital Health team are happy to assist and feel free to get in touch with us via email to digitalhealth@cesphn.com.au.
