From community grants to sports grants they all have an emphasis on strengthening the electorate of Shortland and being involved.

Please share this information around and be wary of the closing dates as a number of the grants in this newsletter require applications to be submitted in the coming days.

Small Business Recovery Grant

Amount: $500 - $3,000
Closing Date: 16 August 2020
Funding Provider: NSW Government
Purpose: To help small businesses meet the costs of safely reopening or up-scaling operations.

COVID-19 has had a massive impact on local businesses in the Shortland elecorate. The new Small Business Recovery Grant helps business owners to rebuild.

You can use it to cover:

  • marketing and advertising expenses
  • fit-out changes
  • staff training expenses to work in a COVID safe way

NAIDOC Week 2020 Local Grants

Amount: $2,500 - $20,000 
Closing Date: 
17 August 2020
Funding Provider: The Federal Government
Purpose: To support local communities to host events and other activities during NAIDOC Week 8 - 15 November 2020.

This year’s theme, Always Was, Always Will Be, represents strength, respect and a continuing journey towards truth and reconciliation.

Lake Macquarie City Council NAIDOC 2020 Funding 

Amount: $750
Closing Date: 17 August 2020
Funding Provider: Lake Macquarie City Council
Purpose: To fund projects or events that celebrate NAIDOC Week on its new dates of 8-15 November 2020.

Lake Macquarie City Council is offering local community groups, not-for-profit organisations, schools and early childhood centres grants to fund projects or events that celebrate NAIDOC Week on its new dates of 8-15 November 2020.

CBB Community Business Grants

Amount: Two grants in the form of risk management consulting support 
Closing Date:  21 August 2020
Funding Provider: Community Business Bureau
Purpose: To develop the successful organisations’ risk management processes and expertise.

Lake Mac Business Excellence Awards

Closing Date: 19 August 2020
Funding Provider: Lake Macquarie City Council
Purpose: To acknowledge and support individual business accomplishments in Lake Macquarie, recognise and highlight achievements, and ultimately encouraging all businesses in the City to strive for excellence.

Award categories for 2020:

National Science Week

Amount: $500 UNSW Bookshop voucher
Closing Date: 28 August 2020
Funding Provider: National Science Week
Purpose: Are you a writer in Years 7-10? Want to win great prizes?

​What are the solutions that will help address global challenges such as catastrophic climate change, global pandemics, severe weather and sea level rise?

You could win a fantastic set of prizes, including publication in Australia's top science magazines, The Best Australian Science Writing book, plus a $500 UNSW Bookshop voucher, a subscription to the Australian Book Review and a trip to the Bragg Prize award ceremony and book launch of The Best Australian Science Writing 2020 in Sydney in November.

Mazda Foundation

Funding Provider: Mazda Foundation
Purpose: To support community-based organisations by providing funding for projects that fall within the nominated priority areas.

The Foundation currently has two priority areas of focus:
– Priority 1: Projects that support children with physical and/or mental disabilities or their carers.
– Priority 2: Projects that support elderly people suffering from mental disabilities (including dementia) or their carers.

Social Investment Grants - Bendigo Bank

Amount: $25,000-$50,000 plus five x 20 hour in-kind strategic impact grants are available 
Closing Date: 11 September 2020
Funding Provider: Bendigo Bank
Purpose: Not only does the program strengthen communities, it also strengthens the not-for-profit organisations that many people rely on to get by.

Pride Foundation Australia 2020 Small Grants Program

Amount: $500
Closing Date: 13 September 2020
Funding Provider: The Pride Foundation Australia
Purpose: To support projects that directly or indirectly assist, involve and benefit LGBTQIA+ and promote positive social outcomes and mental health in the community.

SafeWork NSW Awards

Amount: $3,000 in Award Category 1a and 1b only
Closing Date: 9 August 2020
Funding Provider: NSW Government
Purpose: Their vision is healthy, safe and productive working lives. They understand that many businesses are going through a difficult period with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. With this in mind, the SafeWork NSW Awards program for 2020 has shifted focus.

Category 1 - Outstanding work health and safety response to the changed working environment due to COVID-19

  1. small business (non-government)
  2. large business (non-government)
  3. large business (government)

Category 2 - Outstanding work health and safety support to members in the changed working environment due to COVID-19.

Chain Valley Colliery Community Funding Program

Amount: $30,000

Funding Provider: Delta Coal and Central Coast Council
Purpose: To provide funding for organisations to deliver projects that improve community infrastructure and services.
