![]() Kia ora As you may know the national multi-employer collective agreement (MECA) for ASMS members employed by District Health Boards expires on March 31. That means it’s time to enter negotiations with DHBs for a new MECA covering your pay and conditions for the next three years. Bargaining datesThe first round of MECA bargaining kicks off this week with talks set down for Wednesday and Thursday. Another six days have been scheduled before the MECA expires: 26
and 27 February Your ASMS teamWe have put together a 23-strong negotiating team, made up of ASMS representatives from around the country. It will be led by ASMS Senior Industrial Officer Lloyd Woods with ASMS President Murray Barclay as the co-advocate. ![]() ![]() The full team: Lloyd Woods – ASMS Senior Industrial Officer The DHB team is being led by Kevin Snee and includes Gretchen Dean, Sam Bartrum, Aaron Crawford, Dan Coward and Kate Coley. In total we have eight days of negotiations scheduled before the MECA expires. We are hoping to see some positive engagement from the DHBs on our claims, but it could be a long road ahead as there are many issues to sort through. It’s important to remember that once the MECA expires on March 31, you are still covered by its terms and conditions while negotiations for the new MECA continues, along with any new members who join during that period. We’ll be sending out regular updates about the progress of the negotiations and sharing important information. You can also find the latest news on our website at www.asms.org.nz under the MECA tab. If you have any feedback or comments at any time during the negotiations, please email meca@asms.org.nz.
