DIGEST OF ENTRIES FOR 2ND TT CLUB INNOVATION IN SAFETY AWARD PUBLISHEDPresented at ICHCA’s 65th anniversary conference last year, the 2nd TT Club Innovation in Safety Award aimed to highlight the importance of safety at a time of increased operational demands on the cargo handling infrastructure and operations worldwide. The digest provides in-depth details of each safety improvement that was submitted for the 2017 Award, comprising no fewer than 22 entries. The range of entries submitted displayed both a great diversity of safety issues, as well as tremendous passion, effort and ingenuity. NEW ICHCA TECHNICAL ADVISORY SERVICE PORTALAs you may know, your ICHCA Membership gives you access to ICHCA's Technical Advisory Service. Members can submit a question at any time and get access to expert technical advice on a broad range of cargo handling issues. As part of a review of how we can improve your access to this service, we have introduced a new portal via the Members Area where you can submit a question at any time and expect a response within a few working days. If you wish to remain anonymous, simply indicate this on the form when submitting your question and we will not share your details. Otherwise we hope to include your question as part of a future project of making a range of technical queries and answers available to the Membership. More details on this project will be available in coming months. NEWS FROM THE PEMA AGMThe digitalisation of ports and terminal operations offers ways to realise a “fourth industrial revolution”, bringing with it safety, operational, and environmental benefits, delegates heard at the Port Equipment Manufacturers Association annual general meeting, which was held in the Spanish port city of Bilbao last month. ICHCA's Technical Advisor, Capt. Richard Brough O.B.E. was a keynote speaker at the meeting and used his presentation to highlight broad challenges facing the ports and terminals sector. CARGO HANDLING VOICEFocused on safety, security, sustainability and efficiency in cargo handling and transport around the world, Cargo Handling Voice is a free monthly news digest from ICHCA International. Featuring curated content ranging from regulations, compliance and best practice, to risk and incident reports, and innovative approaches and technologies, the aim of Cargo Handling Voice is to contribute to the knowledge pool within the cargo handling community. By all accounts received, it has been a big success with Members and we will continue to provide this digest in 2018. ITP 78 REPORT NOW AVAILABLEThe 78th meeting of ICHCA's Technical Panel took place in Las Palmas on 5 October 2017 and was attended by 45 delegates from 18 countries in Europe, Africa, The Americas, Asia, and Australia. EXIS TECHNOLOGIES LAUNCHES NEW CONTAINER INSPECTION SYSTEMExis Technologies has announced the launch of Hazcheck Inspections, a web-based database and access portal for inspection companies to plan and enter details of cargo inspections completed on behalf of container or vessel operators. Two container inspection companies, National Cargo Bureau and Port Supervisor Rotterdam, have been instrumental in helping Exis to develop the system in line with customer requirements.
