Post-classic, two-stroke racing No images? Click here Planning has started for 2022Thundersport GB are the first hosts to confirm our invitation for two of their rounds – Brand Hatch Indy and Donington Park National. We have competed at both these meetings previously and we know that they run like a well-oiled machine! We have a dedicated grid, no modern bikes, no road bikes, no four-strokes. Thundersport provides long races and can be relied upon to deliver the full complement of laps. 2021 has shown that the depth of field for these niche bikes at GP Originals is second to none – be a part of it! Get these dates in your diaryAs you are all aware, at this early stage the dates must be considered provisional.
Further information about the race lengths etc will be published as soon as we have it. We have had excellent track time with Thundersport. As an example, we previously enjoyed 15 minutes of timed qualifying, four 10 lap races at Donington and 12 laps at Brands, plus a warm-up on Sunday. Stay tuned for the next dates as they come in. IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR 2022We’ve received feedback that riders would like to see more active policing of the Series’ rules and eligibility requirements. We would like to secure a small team of regular volunteers to be available in the holding area before each race. The task will be to make a visual check for the following ineligible items:
Items on the list above have always been outside of GP Originals rules and concept, however, we have been made aware that some riders are persisting in using them. If a rider presents their machine in the holding area they will be given the opportunity to remove the item immediately or be excluded from the event. Keeping it coolTo date, we have worked on an honesty-based system and the vast majority of riders have always presented excellent machinery. Any issues have been addressed amicably and resolved well. We would very much like to keep this essence of ownership by the riders, we all play our part in keeping it fair, affordable and focused on the skills of the rider. Over the course of the off-season, we will endeavour to write articles to clarify any uncertainty, especially regarding tyres and fuel.
