Get prepared for upcoming changes to the Practice Incentive Program (PIP)
From 1 May 2018 a new quality improvement (QI) incentive will be introduced to the PIP. The new incentive aims to improve access to care, detection and management of chronic conditions, quality, safety, performance and accountability. General practices eligible to participate in the PIP can apply for the QI incentive and must commit to: - quality improvement activities, and
- sharing de-identified general practice data.

CESPHN is running two CPD events in November on the importance of data quality in prevention and management of chronic conditions in general practice. The education events will focus on data extraction and analysis, identifying patients with high risk of developing chronic conditions and identifying areas within general practice to establish quality improvement indicatives. The education events are open to all practice staff and will benefit practices who wish to participate in the PIP from 2018. For further information on the education events see the links below:

Local GP Advocacy Network - East Sydney
General Practice Eastern Sydney is co-hosting an event with RACGP and CESPHN on 6 November 2017. This will entail GP-led paediatric CPD based on the RACGP’s CHECK program, followed by an RACGP led open forum to hear issues of interest or concern for local GPs. Invitation to take part in a research project: Resources to help health professional discuss childhood vaccination
Your practice or clinic is invited to take part in a research project titled SKAI (Sharing Knowledge About Immunisation) System Testing: A pilot study to test the feasibility of the SKAI package. The SKAI system is a suite of resources for health professionals and parents/ carers of babies and young children, designed to support and improve clinical conversations about childhood vaccination. This study will investigate whether the SKAI system can be integrated into established clinical work flows and consultations. Click here for more information.
Consultations open on secondary use of My Health Record data
The Department of Health is undertaking public consultations to inform the development of a framework for the secondary use of My Health Record system data. The consultations will include the release of a public consultation paper, a call for written submissions, an online survey, a national public webinar, workshops and interviews conducted with stakeholders across each Australian state and territory, and telephone interviews with registered stakeholders. Consultation workshops are scheduled to take place around the country between 12

Electronic GP Referrals to Sydney Local Health District services
14 November 2017 marks the start of Sydney Local Health District’s E-Referral Project. GPs using Medical Director software will be able to make point to point secure referrals for renal, liver and haematology services at Canterbury, Concord and RPA Hospitals. The system provides referral completion linked to your practice software, acknowledgement and confirmation of a referrals acceptance and appointment details.
