Click here Vol 23 No 26 13 April 2018 Habitat for Humanity CambodiaOn the 23 March twenty-five pupils and five teachers gathered in Terminal One, Dublin Airport. Barely able to contain our excitement we boarded the first of three gruelling flights to Siem Reap, Cambodia where we spent the night before travelling by bus to Battambang. Here we spent five days on site, brick-laying, cement-mixing, bamboo-shearing, and hole-digging beneath the blazing sun. The work, while difficult, was extremely enjoyable and definitely rewarding when we saw the smiles on the homeowners’ faces. They were thrilled and so grateful to us for our efforts. While in Cambodia we got to visit some famous attractions such as Angkor Wat and the bat caves. We also took part in cultural activities like the Khmer New Year tradition of throwing baby powder
at each other. We were all really upset to leave this incredible country but are content with the work that we did. We will never forget this amazing experience. Seachtain na GaeilgeBhí a lán imeachtaí ar siúl san Ard Scoil i rith Seachtain na Gaeilge, an tseachtain is fearr. Ghlac daltaí páirt i dtráth na gceist, peile gaelach, poc fada, ealaín, agus céilithe. Is céiliuradh é an seachtain agus bhain daoine an taitneamh as an seachtain. Bhí ár gcultúr le feiceáil í ngach áit, go háirithe i dTionóil. Bhí canadh agus ceol, filíocht, agus damsha traidsiúnta ar siúl gach maidin sa Halla Reynolds. Bhí an t-ádh linn go raibh an aimsir go hiontach. Ba mhaith liom buíochas a ghabháil leis na múinteoirí as an seachtain. Feis CeoilThe High School Orchestra received a Highly Commended award at this year's Feis Ceoil competition. Violinist Daimee Ng was also awarded Very Highly Commended in the St Cecilia Cup competition. We look forward to hearing the orchestra and a host of talented soloists perform at the annual Summer Concert on 16 May.
