Domperidone Test Purchase Results

In addition to pharmacy inspections, the PSI uses mystery shopper test purchase exercises to assess risks to patient safety by checking compliance with legislation and PSI guidance.

In 2015, a second test purchase exercise was undertaken by the PSI to check whether pharmacies are correctly complying with changed market authorisation and PSI guidance for the safe supply of non-prescription domperidone products. The results indicate some improvements compared to 2014, but concern remains as domperidone was inappropriately supplied in 46% of cases.

A full breakdown of findings along with advice for pharmacists is published on the PSI website.
