MITCHELL 2050
We've been calling on you to help us shape Mitchell for the next 30 years as part of our Community Vision.
Thanks to everybody who shared their thoughts with us throughout March and April.
Based on the nearly 1500 responses we received, we've prepared some draft themes, focus areas for each theme and some possible vision statements. Click on the video link for more information.
We're checking in to see what you think of the themes and to help draft a vision statement.
Join us for an online presentation at 12pm on Friday 27 August. Due to popular demand we’ve added an extra session at 6pm on Wednesday 1 September.

VACCINATION UPDATE
Stay informed
As Melbourne continues to experience cases of COVID-19 within the community, it is more important than ever that all Victorians continue to check the latest exposure sites, get tested when exposed or symptomatic and get vaccinated when eligible.
The COVID-19 vaccines are free, safe and voluntary. The more people who are vaccinated, the greater the protection for those vaccinated and the whole community.
The best person to talk to if you have concerns about your health and being vaccinated against COVID-19 is your doctor/general practitioner (GP).
For the latest vaccine information visit the Victorian Department of Health

QUARRY UPDATE
Mitchell Shire Council will host a community information session about a proposed stone extraction quarry at 175 Northern Highway, Wallan.
The application has been ‘called-in’ by the Minister for Planning who will be the decision-maker for the application. Mitchell Shire Council continues to oppose the application due to the impact it will have on our community and surrounds.
We’re holding a public meeting to share information about the quarry planning process and take you through the next steps of getting involved should you wish to do so.
-
6.30pm, Thursday 9 September, Wallan Multi-purpose Community Centre.
Spaces are limited due to COVID restrictions.

RATES NOTICES
Understanding valuations
Our 2021/22 rates notices are starting to arrive in letterboxes and inboxes.
Since 1 July 2018, the Valuer-General Victoria has been responsible for providing updated valuations for every property, in every municipality, every year.
The valuation of your property is used to determine how much of the total rates Council is collecting each year. As the valuation of your property changes you may see an increase, decrease or no change in the rates that you pay.
Council receives no extra revenue from property valuation changes.

REPORTING TOOL
Make reports to us online
If you've spotted something that needs attention, report it on our website through the Report It tool.
It might be some dumped rubbish you've come across, overgrown grass on private property you think needs tending to, or a pothole or footpath crack or maybe it's a general enquiry.
Urgent issues or incidents should still be reported to Council immediately by phone 5734 6200 (all hours).

PLAN FOR DOGS, CATS
Have your say on draft DAMP
Following a community survey and stakeholder consultation earlier this year, we've developed a draft Domestic Animal Management Plan for 2021-2025.
Before the draft plan is finalised, we would like input from the community to ensure that the plan reflects the community’s expectations in relation to improving dog and cat management across Mitchell Shire.
Closes: 9am, Monday 20 September.

HARLEY HAMMOND
Provide input on master plan
Harley Hammond Reserve is the recreational heart of Broadford, accommodating more than 616 junior and senior members across a variety of sports.
Despite major upgrades in recent years, many of the reserve's facilities are old and in need of renewal, and others need work to bring them up to contemporary standards.
We've put together a draft Harley Hammond Reserve master plan and would like your input.
Closes: 9am, Thursday 16 September.

PROVIDE INPUT
Health and wellbeing priorities
Following extensive consultation earlier in the year, we’ve released a draft Health and Wellbeing Plan 2021-2025 for input.
The Health and Wellbeing Plan presents our priorities, outlining our goals and key strategies that Council and its partners will deliver.
Closes: 9am, Tuesday 14 September.

RIDD COURT, SEYMOUR
Proposal to rename road
We're proposing to rename Ridd Court in Seymour to Ridd Drive. Once development in the area is completed, Ridd Court will become a 'through road' and will no longer meet the definition of a 'court'.
Updating the name to Ridd Drive will ensure that there is no confusion to people who are trying to locate and access properties on this section of road.
Closes: 9am, Monday 23 August.
